National Green Tribunal (NGT) Mandates: Exhaust Remedy by Approaching the Authorities Before Approaching Tribunal
Justice AK Goel, Chairman NGT has ordered in a case that came up recently before the Tribunal that the person must first approach concerned authority by providing them 15 days time to respond about violations of any Environmental Law.
This mandate is effective from 1st August 2018.
After receiving the complaint, the concerned authority as to respond to the individual complainant or place the same on the respective website at the earliest.
Any person approaching the Tribunal must mention the response received from the authority in the application.
The purpose behind this mandate is to provide quicker remedy to the applicant. It also makes the authorities to express their stand on the complaint.
